What we collect

Gistly collects your account email and name (via our sign-in provider), the personalization answers you give during onboarding, and the YouTube video links you share with the app.

How we use it

We fetch the public transcript of each video you share, generate a summary personalized to your profile, and email it to you. Summaries are stored so we can offer future features. We do not sell your data.

Data security & retention

Data is encrypted in transit. Your summaries and profile answers are kept until you delete your account.

We temporarily cache the public caption text of each video for up to 30 days, so that a video shared by several people is fetched from YouTube once rather than every time. Caption text is not tied to your account, is never shown to other users, and is deleted automatically when that window ends.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, or via our account deletion page.
